Margaret Jane N. McWilliams the daughter of Dr. James & Margaret Jane (Maupin) McWilliams was born June 19, 1890 in Kentucky and died January 4, 1907. Jane N married Dillard C. Anderson and is buried in the Richmond Cemetery, Richmond, Madison County, Kentucky in Section H, Lot 93.

The Find a grave website has lovely photos of the tombstone. I find a clue to the nature of the relationship between Jane N. McWilliams and her husband Dillard C. Anderson. Jane died at the age of 17, and her husband Dillard who was age 23 had his name inscribed on the Tombstone as if his life were over as well. It is quite common for a couple that has been married a long time to inscribe both names on the tombstone but I have rarely seen it done at such a young age.
Margaret Jane who lost her mother at little over a month of age, lost her father two years later. When Dr. James McWilliams died August 25, 1892 he left daughter Cleve 12 years old, son John 8 years old and daughter Margaret Jane age 2. By 1900 the three children were living with an uncle Clay Maupin and their elderly grandmother Elizabeth Maupin 1828 - 1903.

The unique feature of Hialeah Race Course is its great flock of flamingos. These birds were imported from Cuba and South America and in 1939 for the first time, flamingos were raised to maturity in this country. That first season 62 birds were hatched at Hialeah and this year there were almost one hundred. The young birds are white and take on their rich coloring with maturity. Flamingos are fed a mixture of boiled rice, dried shredded shrimp, grains and cod liver oil.

Susan & Arizona Rice - Halcomb Photo taken about 1907 Upper Poorfork, Harlan County, Kentucky.

Susan Halcomb the daughter of Daniel & Lettshia (Wells) Halcomb was born about 1889 around Poor Fork, Harlan County, Kentucky.

1900 Census shows Daniel & Lettshia Halcomb living on Upper Poorfork, Harlan County, Kentucky with their daughter Susan age 11. I know of 3 other daughters of Daniel who all died young.

1910 Census shows Daniel & Lettshia Halcomb living in the Cumberland region of Letcher County, Kentucky. Susan who is 21 years old at the time is living with them and using the last name of Rice, she has two small children Arizona and Otis and is listed as Divorced.

1920 Census shows Daniel & Lettshia Halcomb living again in Upper Poorfork, Harlan County, Kentucky. Susan age 31 is listed with the last name Rice and as widowed is living in the house along with her two children Arizona age 13 and Otis age 10.

I do not know what happened to Susan after this point. I know she lived as I have photos of her as an old woman, she must have remarried and probably to a man by the name of Halcomb as she later has two more children with the name Halcomb and Arizona and Otis take the name of Halcomb.

Arizona married a man by the name of Pleasant Mosley. Pleasant and Arizona Mosley can be found in the 1940 United States Federal Census on Miller Branch, Breathitt County, Kentucky. The two children Ruby and Velma are listed as well as Pleasant's father Joby Mosley.

Arizona Rice or Halcomb Mosley died May 3, 1950 in Barwick, Breathitt County, Kentucky.
In the 1880 census Casper was working as a carpenter. By 1900 William Beam has married Sarah 1873 - 1959. William and Sarah are living in Pike Township, Knox County, Ohio in 1900, and William is working as a teacher. The 1910 Census also Shows William Beam working as a teacher and living in Pike Township, Knox County, Ohio. In 1910 William and Sarah have three children with two living and listed as Leonard and Beatrice.

The William Beam family had relocated to Madison Township, Richland County, Ohio by 1920. William, Sarah and the two children are listed and William is listed as a teacher. The 1930 Census reveals William and Sarah have become empty nesters as they are listed as the only two people in the house and William is still working as a rural school teacher.
The more I learn, the more I realize I have yet to learn. When listing an item on etsy, you fill out many fields and categories, add your photograph and description set the shipping etc... at the bottom of the listing page you hit the Preview Listing button. At this point you can adjust you photograph next to the publish button that makes your listing live there is an option where you can save you listed and make it live at a better time of day or when ever you like. I know this seems simple but I hope it will make a difference publishing my 18 Tintype photographs all in the afternoon close together, rather than late at night when I created the listings.
The next building on the Chopping Block was first used as a Creamery and was built in the first quarter of the 19th century.

If you would like to join the facebook event to show your support in local building preservation, please do so. http://www.facebook.com/events/312300092223680

The Madison History website features a nice description and photo of this building. It's used as a Creamery was followed by a Lawer's office and the Post office.
It is nice to feel the community though we are all from very different towns and cities. The treasuries I created, generated over 800 clicks for 32 items of my Epsteam teammates. It is great to do something nice as a group for each other.

Today I am learning about Etsy Apps. I did not realize they existed until I saw a shop that had prices with a line through them and the discounted price show. This looked very nice and when I could not find information about this feature on the Etsy help site, I turned to the Etsy Help Team. I used a key word search within the Team's discussions and found that the sale feature was an Etsy app from an outside company.

Etsy on Sale was the name of the app I was looking for. I have not yet tested the app I will let you know more later. I have actually been to busy activating other apps. I just created a coupon using NerdWallet a wonderful active coupon facility featuring independent businesses from all over the web.

http://www.nerdwallet.com/coupons/indie/

My new coupon there when finished will be here

http://www.nerdwallet.com/coupons/store/familytreeantiques

I will post comments on this post as I go through the Etsy apps if I find anything exciting or useful.

Etsywishlist seems to be the next interesting app I have found. It allows you to make a wishlist of items you want people to buy for you or for yourself to buy in the future. This also allows you to favorite as much as you like and have a more select purchase list here.

http://www.etsywishlist.com/

It turns out after some time, The Nerdwallet is a much better app than the etsywishlist so far for me.Family Tree Antiqueshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00277538743746614465noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1546700581368466909.post-80357800538510833012013-01-11T17:56:00.004-08:002013-01-17T14:40:53.006-08:00Etsy Teams Another aspect of selling on Etsy is joining Teams. Teams serve functions helping others selling in the same category or geographical region.

The Epsteam (Etsy Pickers & Sellers) has an annual get together on Friday Nights where we make Treasuries to promote each other's items. I made two treasuries and as of a few minutes ago one of my was on the 5th page of overall most trending Etsy Treasuries.
Beautiful Antique Basket

This would look great as a display in any locally owned shop, especially an antique or textile store.

The basket was originally made to hold raw wool in the Southern, Ohio textile mills.
